God exists! What's next?

In the previous issues of our newspaper we debated the question "Does God exist?" This is the most crucial question for everybody, especially for the people who want to go to church, synagogue, or mosque.

While we will continue to discuss the question "Does God exist?," let's switch to the question presented by the title of this article. The next questions are: "What is religion about?", "What is the Bible, Torah, Koran?", "What is Church, Synagogue, Mosque?", "What is the Prayer?", "Who is the Pastor, Rabbi, Imam?", and "Who am I as a believer?" The above questions are listed in logical order, but they could be discussed in any sequence.

Religion is belief in and worship of God, a specific system of belief, or worship built around God, a code of ethics, a philosophy of life, etc. In the United States the most prevalent religions are Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, even though almost all other world religions are represented as well.

Over 95% of immigrants from the former Soviet Union are atheists who believe that there is no God. About half of them are ethnical Jews; the rest, ethnical Russians and other nationalities. All of them lived under the Soviet regime for 70 years and became "Soviet People" and almost lost their ethnical roots. They have much more in common other than religious or chauvinistic discord.

Our newspaper will continue to discuss religious mattes, but because of limited space, we will publish the "Religious Bulletin" for discussion of theological questions under the supervision of the "Board of Religious Advisors".
