Does God Exist?
The first time I had a chance to read the Bible was in Italy, when I stayed with my family for about two months waiting for a visa to the United States. The content of the Bible was in deep contradiction with the science that I had studied in the University back in the Soviet Union.

Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev once summoned all of the Jews of his town to assemble in the main square the next day at noon.
At first the people were perplexed. But then, as they thought about it, they began to say to themselves: "Indeed, what could be more important than to know that there is a God in the world."

Does God Exist?
This question is printed on the cover of 2009 book A Lawyer's Case for God by Jim Jacob. The same millennium-old question was used as the title of an article in the first issue of our newspaper in 1998.
“I was a committed atheist for 39 years” is the opening sentence of the book, in which the author discusses conflicting arguments and the road he travelled in becoming a believer in God and the Bible.

Approaching the new millenium: Response to the article "Does God Exist?"
By Lydia P. Istomina, Methodist Pastor from Russia and the author of "Bringing Hidden Things to Light"
After deciding to come to God we search for instant results. We collect our vices for years and decades but desire to become saints in an instant. Thinking about God, we look forward for immediate proof of His existence without doing anything from our side. The truth is that this process of communication with our Creator is twofold.

While we will continue to discuss the question "Does God exist?," let's switch to the question presented by the title of this article. The next questions are: "What is religion about?", "What is the Bible, Torah, Koran?", "What is Church, Synagogue, Mosque?", "What is the Prayer?", "Who is the Pastor, Rabbi, Imam?", and "Who am I as a believer?"

Keeping the Faith. The Religious El Dorado
This was the title of a movie that premiered earlier this year, which tells the story of two boys and a girl who were childhood friends in New York. One of the boys became an orthodox rabbi, and the other - a Roman Catholic priest. The girl became a high-powered business executive. The rabbi and priest remained friends in spite of the almost 20 centuries of animosity between believers of their religions. They even founded an interfaith club.
Both men are drawn to the girl from their childhood. The love story among the friends raises problems (an Orthodox rabbi should not marry a gentile, or he must resign as a rabbi, and a Catholic priest can't marry at all).

Six Millions...
Guest Speaker Rabbi Kaplan
The Talmud teaches that we must bless God for evil, even as we bless Him for good. When a faithful Jew hears good tidings, he blesses God Who is "good and does good." And when he hears bad news, of death or destruction, he also praises God: "Blessed are You, O Lord, the True Judge."

The fate of the old B'Nai Jehuda building
As was announced in the June 20, 2003, issue of The Kansas City Jewish Chronicle, the old building of the Temple B'Nai Jehudah at 69th and Holmes was sold for $5 million with the understanding that it would be demolished to build the University Academy Charter School. Congregation B'Nai Jehudah moved to Overland Park at 124th and Nall last year.
On the same page, it was announced that a new reform congregation, Kol Ami, or Voice of My People, was founded to fill the void in the center of the city. This congregation was founded by a group of families who left Temple B'nai Jehudah when they felt disenfranchised by the executive committee. Details were published by The Kansas City Jewish Chronicle in their October 4, 2002, issue.

Messianic synagogue and its history
By Rabbi Shmuel Wolkenfeld
Our congregation Or HaOlam is of a type that is called a Messianic Jewish Synagogue. We use that term because we worship the G-d of Israel and Yeshua the Messiah of Israel. Yeshua is the original name of the individual that is now called "Jesus" by many Gentiles. The apparent name change is because the name has gone through several languages. The Greek form of the name had to have an "s" at the end to be masculine in Greek. The "Y" changed into a "J" for similar reasons. When He was on earth, He was Yeshua to his parents, family, and friends.
