Our schools

The Shawnee Mission School District is one of the best school districts in the nation. For the 1993-94 school year, Cherokee Elementary was named a National School of Excellence by the US Department of Education.

Teachers are people who make a difference. This year a team consisting of 3rd graders Amanda Shapiro, Rachel Lusk, Pendar Shayassi, and Jordan Rogers under the coaching of Mrs. Vicki Messbarger is working on the ExploraVision project, a prestigious competition in science. They are trying to solve the problem of how to build, by the year 2020, a car that is controlled by the driver's thought.

The wonderful schools in Overland Park are the major reason why a majority of immigrants live in Overland Park, in spite of the expensive housing.
